How to best utilize the PDF forms we have on our website:
We have made our Rental Application, our Management Agreement, and our Maintenance Request forms interactive PDF forms, meaning, they contain areas where you can type in the information instead of having to print then out and fill them in by hand. This helps you save time and it helps us avoid having to deal with illegible faxed or scanned copies, making sure we get the information correct from the get-go.
The PDF format was invented by the Adobe company, and they remain one of the premier suppliers of software to create and read PDF documents. However, their Acrobat Reader, a free program they offer, will not recognize interactive PDF forms. In other words, the value of having documents you can fill out online is lost because, well, you can’t fill ‘em out online. You’ll have to print them out and fax, mail, or scan and email the forms once you hand write everything out. And quite frankly, we don’t all have great penmanship, do we? Speaking for myself, the answer is “no”.
So, our suggestion is this: if, when you open one of our documents, whether it be our Maintence Request, our Rental Application, or our Management Agreement, and you can’t type in any information (or they simply don’t open for you) download one of these free apps to your computer and then “associate” the file type “PDF” to the program you installed. If you don’t know how, and you’re a Windows user, using the F3 key on your keyboard will get you into the help files. It’s easy and only takes a few minutes. You will be rewarded many times over for the investment of your time, since this file type is so commonly used on the internet and in business.
